Log Text: The standing stone is easily visited by parking at NM 07581 48505. Walk c. 250 yards SE along a track. Caolas Standing Stone is c. 50 yards NE adjacent to a field boundary.

Log Text: Dun Beag (Vaul) is a nice example of a small, defended settlement, taking advantage of natural contours. It was a bonus along with Tiree Ringing Stone and Dun Mor (Vaul).

Log Text: Tiree Ringing Rock, known locally as Clach a' Choire is an isolated erratic on the N coast of Tiree. The boulder is visually impressive with its numerous large cup marks; however, the ringing sound of the metallic stone adds an extra dimension.

Log Text: Cairn na Gath Long Cairn is visible on the right of the Southern Upland Way having passed N through Balmurrie Farm. Cairn Na Gath is closest to the SUW at NX 20916 67493, c. 0.67 miles N of Balmurrie. From this point Cairn na Gath is c. 400 yards E.

Log Text: Mains of Larg NE Cairn is accessed from a lay-by c. 50 yards N of New Luce Viaduct. A short trip across fields, rough pasture and marsh leads to a group of three cairns. Wellies are required for all but dry Summer visits.

Log Text: I spotted Gowk Nest Wood Cairn on OS Aerial view however it is more difficult to see in situ. The low mound can be best observed on close approach. The site is not spectacular, but it is only a short detour from Mains of Larg Cairns.

Log Text: Barnshangan E Cairn is an unusually stony cairn, given its location on farmland. There has been extensive quarrying on the N half, but the S half has a good covering of stones.

Log Text: Cruise W Cairn is difficult to discern in its environment. It is a 2 feet high grassy mound in a marshy field containing Smithy Hill. It is probably best viewed close up.

Log Text: This was my third visit to Cairn MacNeillie, however, it was my first visit in Winter when the vegetation has died down. There are pigs wandering around this cairn adjacent to Cruise farm.

Log Text: I combined my visit to Mother's Jam with The Polisher, a very impressive, grooved stone used to manufacture ceremonial axes. Polisher stones are very rare, a must visit.

An easily visible cairn near the Mains of Larg Farm at NX166639. Not anything special - just easy to see and typical of many of the cairns in the area.

Log Text: This cairn is classified under Milton of Larg on Canmore. It is easy to park in an adjacent gateway to visit the cairn, provided there are no beef cattle in the field. It would have been wonderful if the cairn was better preserved, however Milton of Larg cairn is still worth a visit.

Log Text: Music Water Standing Stone can be seen from the road for St Eval. It is easy to park and visit via a convenient gateway. The tall irregular stone is good value for energy expended.
