Log Text: Easily accessed. About a mile North of Bronaber on the busy A470 there is a small layby on the right. Opposite is a small gated road signed Bryn-Re. Walk down here for about 5 minutes and there is a passing place on the left with a couple of gates into the fields. The stone can easily be seen ( a couple of minutes walk) from the first of these gates.

Stone is only about 1.5m high and leans to the south west.
About 2m away is a much smaller stone.....perhaps part of the site.

Bedd Porus

Bedd Porus submitted by TimPrevett on 18th Apr 2007. Looking east into the wilderness of The Arenigs. This is a late Fifth or early Sixth Century Christian memorial stone, removed from its original exact location, but still in the vicinity. It is unusual in being away from any church or churchyard, instead, it is in the wilderness, near ancient routes, both Roman and Prehistoric. (Sarn Helen runs nearby, as well as the huge Llech Idris Menhir). Presented in a caged enclosure, with a crumbling cast of the original (which is in National Museum...

Log Text: Whilst you can park a lot closer to it,i walked up to it from the Bronaber holiday village (about a 30 minute walk)

The site was overgrown and decaying, with the replica of the inscription not only almost illegible but also with bits of it crumbled away......The word 'Porus' had dissapeared with only the lower part of the 'O' being possibly still there. The middle line was only just legible and i couldn't make out any of the lower line.

The memorial stone (inside it's iron railings) is in a glorious (if not it's it's original)position!

With Llech Idris visible to the southwest,it was still worth visiting Bedd Porus despite it's poor condition.

Cefn Coch (Penmaenmawr)

Cefn Coch (Penmaenmawr) submitted by TimPrevett on 7th Apr 2004. This Circle is easily missed. As it is usually approached from Druids' Circle, it is not visible until you actually go over a slight rise just SW of the neighbouring Moelfre Stone Row / Alignment which can be mistaken as 278. When reading descriptions of Circle 278 as a wide circular rubble bank, with fallen uprights, then coming across this (which I have missed on 2 previous visits to this area), it is unmistakeably Circle 278. This is looking to the North East from the bank of Circle 278...

Graig Lwyd Neolithic Axe Factory

Graig Lwyd Neolithic Axe Factory submitted by TimPrevett on 8th Apr 2004. Graig Lwyd Neolithic Axe Factory sits on the extinct volcano above the North Wales coastal town of Penmaenmawr. Spectacular views abound, with panoramic views to the Tal Y Fan mountain to the south, the Great Orme to the east, and Anglesey to the west. Access is questionable; the 'volcanic plug' from which was taken microdiorite or augite granophyre is on top of a ridge which is still being quarried on its east and north sides for rocks of different geological specifications. The outcrop can ...

Moel Ty Uchaf submitted by DJMace on 9th Nov 2020. Very nice example of a cairn circle in a spectacular location and well worth the hike. A straight walk up the hill along a rough track after passing through two metal gates. Continue on up and the circle is on left hand side. You won't be disappointed.
