Bakenhus Steingrab

Bakenhus Steingrab submitted by Martin_L on 23rd Nov 2011. Foreground right capstone C2 (counting from the East), centre C3. Remains of a 25m long chambered tomb orientated NW-SE. Originally covered by 13 or 14 capstones. It is heavily damaged by explosives and only 3 capstones are completely preserved. By the time of Sprockhoff's examinations it was largely embedded into remains of the eroded barrow, but a recent excavation in 2007 revealed that most orthostats are still preserved, but deeply embedded into the ground/barrow. Bargloyer Brookbäke Grab (4)

Date Added: 14th Jun 2012
Site Type: Round Barrow(s) Country: Germany (Lower Saxony, Bremen)
Visited: Yes on 27th Mar 2012

Bargloyer Brookbäke Grab (4)

Bargloyer Brookbäke Grab (4) submitted by Martin_L on 27th Mar 2012. From the NE. The hollowed-out and robbed round barrow most probably dates back to bronze age and contained no megalithic structure. It is situated at the SE edge of a small wood with dense undergrowth. The barrows' diameter is approx. 18m, height up to 1,2m. It has a central pit most probably caused by historic excavations or perhaps collapse of an internal wooden structure. Of course this can only be clarified by archaeological examination. March 2012
