Bargloyer Brookbäke Steingrab (1)

Bargloyer Brookbäke Steingrab (1) submitted by Martin_L on 27th Mar 2012. From the NE. Remains of a larger chambered tomb. Once part of a larger megalithic complex. Almost completely destroyed in the 19th century. Nowadays only one partly covered and fallen megalith (of reddish granite (?)) is preserved besides an east-west oriented barrow-like structure with a maximum height of appr. 1,2m. If said earthen structure is part of the original barrow or just a result from removal of the chamber-stones cannot be stated with certainity.

Lastrup Steingrab (2) submitted by Martin_L on 27th Mar 2012. The 10m by 3m to 4m chamber (clear size 7,5m by 2m) viewed from the East. It was moved here in the late 19th century. The accuracy of the reconstruction is doubtful. At least the orthostats partly are placed unusually close to each other leaving no space for the dry-walling. Nevertheless nice it was rescued by Pastor Wolf [1]. [1] Sprockhoff, Schwieger in: Körner, G. (Ed.), Sprockhoff, E. Ahlhorn Falschheide (1)

Ahlhorn Falschheide (1) submitted by Martin_L on 20th Apr 2012. Soon built-over....the megalithic passage grave was located approximately at (left) photos' centre. The area is currently prepared for development and probably the site will be built-over sooner or later. Destroyed (the megaliths were robbed before 1930, presumably in the 19th century) megalithic tomb from funnel beaker culture. Excavations in the early 1930s and in 1994 revealed pottery, chambers' pavement, traces of the orthostats and of an oval enclosure. Length of chamber approximatel...

Ahlhorn Falschheide (2) submitted by Martin_L on 20th Apr 2012. View East from beside the eroded barrow. Some erratic boulders are sticking out of the ground. Whether these originally belonged to the site is uncertain. Seems to form a multi-period cemetery along with the three nearby sites.

Ahlhorn Falschheide (3)

Ahlhorn Falschheide (3) submitted by Martin_L on 20th Apr 2012. One of the small flat eroded barrow-like structures. The site is marked as round barrow in topographic maps. Nowadays it is located in a small and dense patch of woodland just to the South of an industrial estate. There are several structures visible at this position: 1. several areas pavement-like covered with boulders (which is unusual). 2. small and flat barrow-like structures 3. structures with erratic boulders sticking out of the ground. It is hard to judge if any of these structu...

Ahlhorn Falschheide (4) submitted by Martin_L on 20th Apr 2012. From the West. Significant round barrow, diameter appr. 20m, height 1,7m. At the western edge of the barrow a (small) erratic is sticking out of the ground, two more are visible 5 meters to to the West. If these originally belonged to the barrow (for example as kerb-stones) is uncertain. Seems to form a multi-age necropolis along with the three nearby sites. Situated in a pathless area of a woodland, with partly dense undergrowth. It is located to the North-east of Schmeersteine Großsteingrab. Many trees are growing on the barrow. The surface of its southern edge is partly grown with grass, most other parts are like the forest soil. There are several dens (probably badger) inside the barrow. The largest entrance just on top of it. Dating of barrow is uncert...

Eggermuehlen Huegelgrab (1) submitted by Martin_L on 8th May 2012. From the SW. Heavily eroded prehistoric round barrow, diameter 20m, remaining height only up to 0,5m. Nowadays situated in a little grove at the northwestern edge of village Eggermühlen, just to the NW of a sports ground. Unfortunately the site is labelled as play ground in the 1:10000 topographic map. This probably contributed to the significant erosion: The barrows’ surface only is bleak soil. April 2012
