Kerloas menhir

Kerloas menhir submitted by thecaptain on 23rd Jun 2006. This is the biggest standing menhir in Europe, if not the world, at nearly 10 metres tall, and has lost the top 2 metres after a lightning strike! The stone, which is not local and has been brought to this hilltop site from more than 2.5 kilometres away, has been beautifully shaped, and tapers both into the ground, and up to a point.

Dolmen de la Pierrelée

Dolmen de la Pierrelée submitted by TheCaptain on 5th Sep 2013. What's left of this Angevine dolmen is still within a mound, although how ancient the mound is I wouldn't like to say. The odd thing is that it has been lived in, and the inside has been rebuilt with stone blocks to allow a doorway and stairs down into it, which are not in the original entrance. It also has a fireplace and a chimney complete with pot, and a water trough.

Dicke Stein

Dicke Stein submitted by AlexHunger on 28th Aug 2005. The Dicke Stein (the fat stone) was re-errected in 2001 in a specialiy laid out park in the pitoresque Palatinate medieval town of Armsheim. All local stones appear to have been moved as a result of agricultural reforms. With 2 Meters tall and 60 cm width, it is actually a rather thin limestone slab with only about 15cm in depth.
