Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Cumbria)

Lowhouse submitted by nicoladidsbury on 19th Dec 2006. Low House standing stone is really massive. It appears to be made from the same type of rock as Long Meg and Mayburgh. It is a similar size to the standing stone of Mayburgh. Its great to find such a stone, that is virtually unknown... Magic. I hope this picture gives an indication of the size of the stone

St Melor's Well
Date Added: 26th Feb 2022
Site Type: Holy Well or Sacred Spring
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Would like to visit
St Melor's Well submitted by KiwiBetsy on 14th Oct 2006. Clear water pours from a groove in the front of the wellhouse and makes for a very wet approach to the well. The present structure dates from the 15th century as does the nearby church. There is a large niche in the front gable and several small ones inside. The water was considered to be a good remedy for horses sprained legs and was also used for baptism in the church. St Mellor's Well is a Scheduled and Grade II Listed monument.
