Log Text: The ambience is good as long as you ignore the fact the site is next to a giant rubbish dump

Jelling Runesten

Jelling Runesten submitted by DrewParsons on 11th Oct 2009. Site in South Jutland (Sønderjylland) Denmark: King Harald Bluetooth's stone
(View photo, vote or add a comment)

Log Text: The site comprises two large mounds separated by a church, and King Harold Bluetooth's runic stone, thought to be carved with Sacandinavia's oldest image of Christ. The south mound is 10m high and the North one 8m, possibly king Gorm the Old's burial site.

The day I visited it was sunny and blustery which gave the whole site an eerie feel as I was the only visitor for about an hour.
