He says: "The menhir, 3.1 m high, still stands in its original position, 42 m almost due south from the centre of the stone circle. There is no evidence that the smaller pillar, 2 m long, lying a few meters away ever stood upright, but it was erected in 1895 in the pit alongside, toppling again a few years later. Cerrig Duon (Black Stones) is a 60' x 57' slightly egg-shaped ring of about 22 stones no more than 2' high. The most prominent feature is the outlier, Maen Mawr, standing 30' to the north.

Park Gate is a relatively well-preserved embanked stone circle located on a boggy plateau on the moorland above Beeley, at the northern end of a cairnfield. The two ringcairns of Beeley Moor North (GR: SK277687) and Beeley Warren North East (GR: SK279688) are located close by to the north-west.
