St Chad (Middlesmoor) submitted by Sunny100 on 16th Jul 2010. Illustration of the Anglo-Saxon Cross at St Chad's church, Middlesmore. It dates from the 7th century and is decorated with a depiction of Christ's crucifixion, scroll-work and lines running downwards from a square-shaped plait. The cross commemorates St Ceadda (Chad), first bishop of Lichfield, who died in 672 AD.
