Log Text: The cross base is an impressive “lump”, carved on three sides, but looking very vulnerable to toppling or movement as it is severely undermined , and seems to rest on old bricks wedged beneath (see photos). The nearby stone set in the wall is even more enigmatic. What evidence is there of the supposed Roman road mentioned in the article?

Log Text: Well worth a visit, impressive in size, cup marks very clear, ring marks not visible. A Mr Forrest has added his name to the varving. Shame the context of cairns and sightlines ruined by development, but significant nonetheless. I’ll post photos asap.

It dates from the 7th century and is decorated with a depiction of Christ's crucifixion, scroll-work and lines running downwards from a square-shaped plait. The cross commemorates St Ceadda (Chad), first bishop of Lichfield, who died in 672 AD.

St Cadwaladr (Llangadwaladr) submitted by TimPrevett on 23rd Sep 2007. The most important burial inscription on Anglesey. referring to St Cadfan, a King of Gwynedd who died around 625 AD. The style is indicative of wide contacts, as far as the western mediterranean.
The stone is set in the wall in front of you as you enter the building, and reads:
CATAMANUS REX SAPIENTIS MUS OPINATISM US OMNIUM REG UM - King Catamanus wisest most renowned of all kings.

A small circle that looks like it was made yesterday. All of the stones except 1 are inset. The recently burnt back heather has revealed an area covered with small inset stones. I saw at least 3 possible circles next to this one, but there again I always do.
