Sittaford Stone Circle submitted by davep on 26th May 2014. The Sittaford Stone Circle was discovered in 2007 as announced in January 2014 issue of the Devon Archaeological Society Newsletter. Barkhale
Date Added: 17th Jun 2016
Site Type: Causewayed Enclosure
Country: England (West Sussex)
Visited: Yes on 14th Jun 2016. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 2 Access 4

Barkhale submitted by paulcall on 8th Feb 2007. As at the Trundle nearby, the neolithic causewayed camp here is hardly visible. There is a faint elevation (seen in the centre) in a field used for animals. All the surrounding fields are arable and ploughing would eradicate this site very quickly.

Adsdean Down Tumuli submitted by Reava on 15th Oct 2014. Twin bell barrows, this one [SU 8074 1074] enclosed in
the same oval ditch. Berm overspread on the lower side. Barrows
6 ft. high, 60 ft. diameter, with berm 12 ft. wide and ditch 1 ft.
deep and 9 ft. wide.
Twin bell barrow as described. Overgrown with some bramble and
undergrowth but generally in good condition.

Log Text: Twin Bell Barrows apparently surrounded by a ditch. The site is heavily under foliage being brambles, spruce, even a young yew growing from one. Each barrow's ring ditch can easily be discerned however the oval outer ditch could not be envisaged.
The site runs by an unofficial track that was formerly a footpath and so visitation is presumably not appreciated.
