Upwey Wishing Well submitted by TimPrevett on 21st May 2005. The gorgeous setting of Upwey Wishing Well. See the main entry for details. I have tested the water for ailments of the feet - a badly sprained ankle dipped for about 10 seconds on 5 occasions. Wonderfully refreshing cold flowing water to swollen and bruised tendons, but have had nothing miraculous!
This view looks downstream.

Upwey Ridgeway Barrow Cemetery submitted by TimPrevett on 3rd Nov 2003. Upwey Ridgeway Barrow Cemetery (SY663866)
This is taken from the Bincombe Barrows, at sunset on 31st October 2003. A breathtaking location. The barrows for this are not obvious, but looking west from where I was, this was the most obtrusive barrow I could locate, with the wonderfully atmospheric view.

Ridgeway Hill submitted by TimPrevett on 15th Jan 2021. A round barrow (visible back right) adjacent the site of 50 plus Viking executions at the hands of Anglo Saxons in a disused Roman quarry on the east side of the Roman Road from Weymouth to Dorchester - now the Weymouth Relief Road. Considerate parking near the bridge over the A354 to the west of Bincombe Down. Interpretation panels for the barrows and Viking executions a short walk through a gate. The barrow particularly good to view from the south west side.

"The sink hole now appears stable and the National Trail is open. Sink holes occur naturally, but our advice is always take care and if you have concerns report them to Dorset Council."

Black Down (Dorset) submitted by TimPrevett on 15th Jan 2021. "The Black Down stone circle consists of five ‘totems’ built from local Forest Marble stone. One is aligned with true north and the other four with the midwinter and midsummer solstice sunrises and sunsets. In clear conditions at each of these times, the Sun’s full disc shines through an opening in one of the totems, lighting up a central rock of Portland stone."
"The circle is part of a larger project that finds creative ways to navigate and explore the South Dorset Ridgeway. A second ...

Agglestone submitted by TimPrevett on 12th Aug 2005. Shropshire Traveller, Cassie the Dog, Teufel, Sharon, Izzy and Nat (front) at the enormous Agglestone - an outcrop of ironstone, which sits upon a mound within a vast natural amphitheatre. It used to be erect, and able to rock (ie. a logan stone), but the stone is now fallen. Attributed to Satanic throwing, and fancifully used for druidic rites, it is impressive. The rock is ironstone, and if you look carefully, in many places the rock does actually look like badly rusted metal. On the Dorset Me...

This cemetery extends from the wood, across the hill top, with a glorious view to the coast, including Chalbury Hill Fort, and the impressive Bincombe Barrows.
This picture is taken on top of only one of three bank barrows (all in Dorset) with two round barrows to the left (N); the barrows go from behind the camera through the fields and into the wood.
