Log Text: The morning mist engulfed the fort and when I ascended the ramparts I could see very little. However out of the mist I saw horses and a number of sheep.
The livestock gave me a feeling of life with no humans to keep them.

Bury Hill (Hampshire) submitted by JimChampion on 23rd Jan 2005. January 2005. View looking north from the western portion of the ditch between the two ramparts. The ditch is wide and deep, with plenty of yew, silver birch and beech trees. The ditch on the eastern side is less heavily wooded, and churned up by farm machinery. Plenty of wildlife here, but little in the way of pre-historic remains.

St Catherine's Hill (Hampshire) submitted by JimChampion on 15th May 2005. May 2005. Looking NE at the hillfort from across the Itchen valley. A familiar aspect to those who travel north up the M3 from Southampton (just before the controversial Twyford Down cutting). Only one of the cows in the foreground has noticed me standing precariously on a gatepost to take this picture.
