North Strone submitted by cosmic on 25th Jul 2004. North Strone in Aberdeenshire at NJ584138 has the smallest recumbent anywhere (4ft6in) and all the stones are small. Burl gives ot Grade 4 but this is harsh as the circle seems to be almost complete although most of the stones have fallen.

Dun Grugaig, also recorded as Caisteal Chonil. This is classified in the head entry as a Broch, and it is not far from the Glenelg brochs of Dun Troddan and Dun Telve. RCAHMS describes it as a galleried dun. It is horseshoe shaped, the open end of the horseshoe overlooking a steep cliff above the river. There are however traces of a shallow arc shaped wall closing the horseshoe above the cliff, although its foundations are considerable smaller than those of the horseshoe.
