Site Type: Hillfort
Country: England (Shropshire)
Visited: Would like to visit
Caer Caradoc (Church Stretton) submitted by TimPrevett on 28th Jun 2004. Caer Caradoc, taken from a northwest angle on a lovely summer's morning. Indeed, this offers some formidable defense. If this were the place of Caratacus' last stand against the Romans, this would have indeed been something difficult to conquer, even by Roman standards. However, there is no evidence to confirm this suggestion.

Dolmen Puig de Caneres submitted by Runemage on 16th Mar 2014. Dolmen de Puig Caneres
An ancient site visited in the book Where Heaven and Earth Unite (p209). The authors had been at some point in the past and had a pleasant visit but this time, someone had surrounded the dolmen with an electric fence. The group Elyn, her husband and Ferran had a headache on approach, they crawled under the electric fence and all felt much worse so they all left immediately. Apparantly some of the pain went straight away, some had a nasty feeling for a while afterward...

Plas Newydd Burial Chamber submitted by angela on 10th Jun 2002. Plas Newydd
If you are visiting Bryn Celli Ddu on Anglesey it is worth looking at this Burial Chamber site as it is nearby at SH 520 697. Coming from the bridge on the A4080 after about 2 miles take the left turn a few metres before the left turn to the National Trust car park for Plas Newydd. This lane has a blue private sign but this is for the centre down there. After a short distance you will see the tomb on the right in a field. This photo was from a winter visit and it was a quiet frosty ...

Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Wales (Anglesey)

Lligwy Burial Chamber submitted by Jimwithnoname on 8th Sep 2011. Amazing dolmen and very unnerving sat underneath the 25 ton capstone. It's perched on very little it seems on the one side. The warden approached us as we sat eating at the site. He asked if we were thinking of stopping the night, which we were, but as he said. that's a no no. We respected him and moved on after our picnic. He was quite pleasant and only doing his job. Many people wild camp as he said, and set fire to crops or drive through hedges!
