Realising I was on the wrong side of the loch, and the other side was very marshy, I took this above telephoto shot of the row and gave up. Unless you are very dedicated, stick to the more impressive Hill O' Many Stanes nearby.

Hampston's Well submitted by TimPrevett on 5th May 2008. The main entry has good details. On arriving there is space for two cars, and even a bag for litter! Two large embedded columns give information about the sites history, linking them to Burton Iron Age settlement and Anglo Saxon usage. Steps lead down into a wide open area into which seem to flow a number of tributary springs - though given Cheshire and Lancashire had some flash flooding last night with horrendous thunder and torrential rain, much of this wider area was a mud bath.
