The monument itself was discovered by a group of shephards who were looking for water and it was excavated several times. The excavations brought artefacts from periods since nuragic one to Roman. The 9,10 m long corridor leading to the chamber is quite well preserved, but most of the capstones are gone (photo taken on September 2009).

The archaeologists suggest, that the shape and plan ofthe nuragic temples like Malchittu or Domu de Orgia in Esterzili was influenced by the Mediterranean cultures, probably with particular participaton of Punic and Phoenician settlers.
