Penmaen Burrows
Date Added: 15th Aug 2013
Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Wales (West Glamorgan)
Visited: Would like to visit

Penmaen Burrows submitted by paulcall on 1st Dec 2006. Found 400metres down a track south-east from Penmaen village towards Threecliff Bay. It is quite ruined, and not mentioned in the otherwise comprehensive 'The Ancient Stones of Wales' by Chris barber and John Williams. However, it is marked clearly on O.S. map 159, but I found it surprisingly tricky to find when I visited.

It has one of the largest capstones in Britain. You can get some idea of the size by Dawn standing below it.

Maen Llia submitted by Johnny on 18th Sep 2001. Maen Llia Standing Stone (Powys, SN 924 193)
"Llia’s Stone" is an elegant and imposing standing stone which is impressively situated in a remote position at the top of the Llia valley, along which it points directly north to south. It is a massive slab of a stone 3.8 metres in height, 2.8 metres across but only 0.9 metres thick and dominates the scenery in the austere moorland of Fforest Fawr.

Corndon Hill 4
Date Added: 7th Aug 2013
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Would like to visit
Corndon Hill 4 submitted by TimPrevett on 30th Dec 2004. The most north eastern cairn on top of Corndon Hill, Midwinter Solstice 2004. Corndon Hill 3, left, and Corndon Hill 2, top right are also visible.
The cairns are substantial, and writing as one who has walked miles to see much lesser cairns, this hilltop is a worthy visit.
My friend, 'Wintertrees', helps gave a sense of scale.

Gaer Fawr (Guilsfield) submitted by w650marion on 19th Sep 2020. This notice board is found halfway up to the top. There is a layby and a tiny carpark at the foot of the hillfort. A choice of two paths up. The left hand path will eventually get you to this. A lovely walk.
