D53 Havelterberg submitted by Sunflowerbird on 10th Mar 2005. D53 Havelteberg The two Havelteberg monuments are a long way west from the string of hunebedden between Emmen and Assen. But they're worth a detour! D54 and D53 are within 400ms of each other in sandy heathland. D53 is a moster hunebed in superb shape and even has its portal stones.

The closest "long graves" like this lie near Oldenburg (Germany). There are two burial chambers and the tomb is orientated north - south.
