Graig Lwyd Neolithic Axe Factory

Graig Lwyd Neolithic Axe Factory submitted by KevB on 2nd Dec 2024. Quarried block of microdiorite with obvious conchoidal fracture, highlighted by sun's angle, where an axe blank has been hammered off the block surface.

Log Text: An amazing site, but clearly one that is under threat from modern visitors deciding to have a go and hammer their own stones off. It was very upsetting to see that people are not giving this site the respect it deserves.

Bwlch y Ddeufaen N

Bwlch y Ddeufaen N submitted by Supersequin on 15th Mar 2025. View looking north. This stone is smaller and more angular than the southerly stone. Lichen has turned it a lovely green colour. Unfortunately, the adjacent pylon detracts from the ambience.

Log Text: Smaller and less imposing than the southerly stone. The overall impression is somewhat spoilt by the adjacent pylon.
