Carn Gluze submitted by TheCaptain on 24th Feb 2004. Ballowall Barrow / Carn Gluze. July 2003 Difficult to get a good picture of, but I quite like the way this one shows the position of the barrow with respect to the clifftop views. Others will probably have better pictures of the structure itself

Porthmeor Circle

Porthmeor Circle submitted by TheCaptain on 24th Feb 2004. Treen Common stone circle, also known as Porthmeor I knew nothing of this very ruined circle until I found it in the excellent Belerion book. So I just had to go and have a look. It is largely an embanked ring with plenty of stones sticking up out of the top in a very haphazard way. It is possibly the remains of a henge, rather than a proper stone circle. This picture was taken from a high point on the embankment, and can be seen curving away to the right, more by the dark green of t...

Tregiffian Barrow

Tregiffian Barrow submitted by thecaptain on 28th Feb 2004. Tregiffian Barrow. Not the best photo of this nice barrow, but this picture shows its situation quite well. Not only can the road which cuts through its back be seen (thankfully the road straightening in the the 1960's was not completed), but in the background of the photo can be seen the Merry Maidens stone circle. And the Gun Rith menhir lives in the field to the left of the road.

Tregeseal East

Tregeseal East submitted by thecaptain on 28th Feb 2004. Tregeseal Stone Circle, July 2003 The circle was completely surrounded by gorse, ferns and other growth, which made getting to the stones practically impossibe. Getting a photo was difficult too. To get this picture I had to climb on top of the wall surrounding the field the circle is in. Surely these monuments deserve better treatment

Bryn Cader Faner submitted by thecaptain on 9th Mar 2004. Bryn Cader Faner. This is the truly wonderful sight as you approach this cracking circle up the hillside. On a nice day, there is a lovely walk from Harlech, past Moel Goedog to Llyn Trawsfynydd along an ancient trackway, which passes several standing stones, several cairns and a few circles. This is the pick of them all.

Horton Camp submitted by TheCaptain on 29th Mar 2004. Horton Camp Hillfort, South Gloucestershire, ST765845, March 2004. View looking northwest along the remaining bank across the top of the hill. There is no sign of a ditch. The "inside" of the camp is to the left. I may well be wrong, but I think that this bank may be a former internal division of what was once a much bigger camp taking in the entire promontary, not just the southern end.
