Kinnerton submitted by TimPrevett on 10th Sep 2005. The stone in its place in the field; noticed the curved top to the stone, and then follow up to the horizon, and notice the curved hillock above it. Coincidence? Other stones in other places appear to mimmick hill shapes behind them... perhaps this lends more credence to it being a standing stone rather than a scratching post. Perhaps.

The Hindwell Stone
Trip No.22 Entry No.5 Date Added: 26th Jun 2022
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Wales (Powys)

The Hindwell Stone submitted by TimPrevett on 22nd Sep 2008. Possible standing stone in a field in the Walton Basin. Given the context of the area, and that it's a matter of metres outside of the northern line of the Hindwell Pallisaded Enclosure, it seems a credible assumption to think it of significance and a part of the amazing ancient landscape now largely lost. Look to the NW for The Whimble hill and to the E for Burfa Bank which are of similar shape to the stone in their outline.

Maen Tarw submitted by Johnny on 10th Oct 2001. Maen Tarw Standing Stone (SN 722 833)
Maen Tarw standing stone is close to the Buwch a'r Llo stone pair (cf) but just within the forestry block, again adjacent to the road. It is a small block of unusual appearance, probably due to severe weathering over the years! Whatever function it originally served is no longer known but it may have, in some way, been linked to the Buwch a'r Llo pair.

Ewden Beck submitted by PaulM on 31st Aug 2001. Close up of some of the stones at Ewden Beck stone circle (aka Broomhead I). GR:SK238966. Ewden Beck is the most northerly of all the known sites in the Peak District to the north-west of Sheffield and west of Stocksbridge and marked on the map as ‘enclosure’. The circle is named after the nearby stream of Ewden Beck and is located on a flat shelf just above the steep valley, in an area surrounded by a bank and ditch of unknown date.
