Ewden Beck is the most northerly of all the known sites in the Peak District to the north-west of Sheffield and west of Stocksbridge and marked on the map as ‘enclosure’. The circle is named after the nearby stream of Ewden Beck and is located on a flat shelf just above the steep valley, in an area surrounded by a bank and ditch of unknown date. Log Text: We climbed up to this nuraghe on a good path, made a number of years ago, which is now considerably overgrown. However, it is possible to climb up to the top, where we had a picnic.

Log Text: The walk from the road up a dirt track passes through a tunnel used asa are. The farm is guarded by noisy dogs, but they mostly left us alone. The menhirs have fallen and are mostly broken, but one or two are still impressive.

Unfortuneately, I neglected to get a shot from the front of the main site. Maybe next time I'm up there.

Legend says that this was the home of the giants Cormoran and his wife Cormelian. Jack defeated Cormoran after the giant terrorised local lands. Near the well is a stone named the Giant's Heart.

Glassonby submitted by baz on 26th Apr 2003. This ring cairn/circle lay under a large mound until its excavation in 1900. One of the stones is said to be marked with a faint set of concentric rings with two adjoining semi-circles.
