(2)Be wary of looking for monumdents when the maize is high - I didn't. (3) Take a gps and reference with you - I didn't. This monument is about 50 metres into the field of maize so almost impossible to find in high maize

Machrie Moor 5 submitted by jeffrep on 30th Jul 2013. Machrie Moor 5, sometimes called "Fingal's Cauldron Seat," consists of two almost perfectly preserved rings of granite boulders.
The Machrie Moor Stone Circles are located at the end of a 1-1/2 mile track that is off of the A841 (some 200 yards south of the bridge where the main road crosses the Machrie Water) and three miles north of Blackwaterfoot in the western part of the Isle of Arran in North Ayrshire, Scotland.

The alignments stretch across the countyside like a battleground of soldiers. The site is close to the sea and there is a theory that the statues were some sort of magical deterrent to invaders.

Log Text: After our visit we were told by the tourist office that these stones cannot be visited because they are dangerous and on private land. Ignoring this advice seems like a good idea.
