Long Meg And Her Daughters submitted by nicoladidsbury on 13th Jul 2005. Long Meg in midsummer moonlight. The solstice night is very short, but when you're waiting for the sun to rise, it gives plenty of opportuntiy to experiment with photos! I took this photo around 2am, in the middle of the solstice night. The moon was shining very brightly casting beautiful moonlight shadows, it felt very magical. I turned up my ISO rating to catch as much light as I could, and set the timer for 30 seconds. This is the result. I know its a grainy picture, and rather odd, but the b...

Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: Scotland (Isle of Arran)
Visited: Yes on 1st Aug 1996. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 3 Access 3

Machrie Moor 10 submitted by AngieLake on 8th Sep 2008. Stones at the SW of the Moss Farm Road (or Machrie Moor 10) circle. The stone on the left resembles the head and shoulders of a hooded person. It faces into the circle, and towards the NE and Midsummer sunrise. There's a dip in the hills at NE, and my ritual movement dowsing headed out of the circle in that direction. Its inner face also seems to have a circular carving.

Visited: Couldn't find on 27th Jun 2004. My rating: Access 1

Meal-da-Bheinn submitted by BolshieBoris on 27th Jun 2007. Meal-da-Bheinn - This was as close as I could get - according to the OS Map the circle should be on the sunlit bit of the hillside, but it was not accessible from the road without wading equipment. Very boggy ground and 2 deep streams in the way.

I rediscovered this photo and selectively manipulated the contrast so that you can now see the stones (previously they were too dark). I've uploaded a similar photo to Wikimedia Commons - they need pictures of ancient sites for use on free sites like Wikipedia.
