Chun Quoit

Chun Quoit submitted by sem on 16th Jun 2005. The capstone and the horizon. There is a theory that dolmens (or quoits as they are known in Cornwall) were not totally covered in earth but the capstones were left uncovered and were a copy of the horizon. I have manipulated the tones in this shot to show this, but no shapes have been altered.

Croft Moraig submitted by Nick on 5th Nov 2002. From Aberfeldy take the A827 west towards Kenmore. Ensure the gate is shut properly as there are often sheep in the field. There is a good information board here outlining the history of the site, which has three distinct phases. Initially fo...

Col du Petit Saint-Bernard Cromlech submitted by bolshieboris on 10th Sep 2008. Site in Italy: Italian side - site is too big to fit in one photo - small stones no more than 12-18" high straddling French/Italian Border - 27-10-07
(View photo, vote or add a comment)

Log Text: The Little San Bernardino Pass goes straight through it across the France/Italy border which it also straddles. Very large circle with small-ish stones. Tank traps and border installations detract somewhat from the ambience, but worth a visit for the drive alone!
