Boskednan stone circle

Boskednan stone circle submitted by JimChampion on 22nd Aug 2005. The portal stones illuminated by the last rays of the setting sun. The tallest one (on the left) has a diagonal groove present on this and the opposite side. The holes that the restored stones were raised from have been covered with pegged down foliage, presumably to encourage regrowth on the bare earth.

Giant's Well (Trencrom)

Giant's Well (Trencrom) submitted by cazzyjane on 15th Jul 2010. A sweet but rather lonely little well, not helped by its metal cover and padlock. Rather less impressive than Trencrom Castle well found on the other side of the hill.

Mulfra Quoit

Mulfra Quoit submitted by JimChampion on 31st Dec 2004. August 2004. Taken looking west at sunset. We only just made it to the quoit before the sun set, but were rewarded with spectacular ambience. Running up the bracken-covered hillside from the Try Vally, the quoit was hidden from view until we got very close to it. A lot of anticipation, capped by a pleasant surprise. Its not obvious where to park for access from the Try Valley, there is a shallow lay-by at SW454356.

Tregeseal East

Tregeseal East submitted by Andy B on 24th Mar 2010. Photo from June 2009. The cattle were supposed to trample down the bracken but only ate the grass within the circle, destabilising several stones that, after we reported it to the Historic Environment Service in Truro, had to be secured. The HES then organised a manual cutting of surrounding bracken to give the cattle more space away from the circle! So far this is the only major site to be affected, others not yet being grazed although it is planned to do this at Men-an-Tol and Lanyon Quoit. ...

Boswens Menhir

Boswens Menhir submitted by enkidu41 on 3rd Mar 2004. Boswens Menhir - a 2.6m high Bronze Age stone standing at the centre of a much denuded cairn. The stone seems to have been carefully placed as it is possible (just) to see many other megalithic sites from here including Lanyon Quoit, Chun Quoit, and Boskednan Circle. Perched on top it is also possible to see West Lanyon Quoit and Tregeseal Circle. SW 4001 3289
