Hobajons Cross submitted by thecaptain on 6th Aug 2004. Hobajons Cross. This relatively large stone is part of the Butterdon Hill row, and has a simple cross carved into it on the western face. It appears to be a part of the original alignment, adapted for more recent use as a marker for ancient tracks crossing the moor.

Hart Tor North circle submitted by TheCaptain on 17th Jun 2004. Hart Tor North Stone Circle, Dartmoor, Devon SX577717
The cairn at the top of the northern rows is about 9m in diameter, and is surrounded by a lovely ring of 15 stone slabs. It is possible that there is another ring of stones still present within the cairn.
This is the view to the west, looking down the double row.

Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Cornwall)

Goodaver submitted by mattimpey on 9th Mar 2009. Several of the stones appear to have an undercut, whether this is due to weathering, the stones being re-errected upside down, or a feature of the circle I do not know.

Giant's Well (Trencrom) submitted by cazzyjane on 15th Jul 2010. A sweet but rather lonely little well, not helped by its metal cover and padlock. Rather less impressive than Trencrom Castle well found on the other side of the hill.

Figgy Dowdy's Well submitted by KiwiBetsy on 26th Aug 2006. According to RootsWeb.com, this well is also known as Maggy Figgy and Margery Daw and was a popular place to christen your doll on Good Friday. The well has been restored by the Carn Marth Preservation Group and is kept locked as a safety measure. I’m sure Figgy Dowdy would approve of this as the rhyme ….
Figgy Dowdy had a well
On the top of Carn Marth hill
And she locked it night and day
Lest they took her water away
…. is associated with the well.
To visit, ta...

Fice's Well
Date Added: 16th May 2012
Site Type: Holy Well or Sacred Spring
Country: England (Devon)
Visited: Yes
Fice's Well submitted by KiwiBetsy on 23rd Sep 2006. The well stands surrounded by a low stone wall which was built by convicts (it’s only a very short distance to the prison) in the 19th century. We found Fice’s Well on a very murky Dartmoor day and were probably lucky not to suffer the same fate as John Fitz and his wife.
