Bylchau Blaenclydach Stone
Date Added: 19th Sep 2010
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Wales (Carmarthenshire)
Visited: Yes on 24th Aug 2010

Bylchau Blaenclydach Stone submitted by cerrig on 24th Aug 2010. This is a very curious stone. The notch looks like it could be natural, or an eroded man made hole. There are also 2 arrow heads carved into the stone just below the notch, pointing at each other.
The pony is one of many that roam freely over these hills.
This view looking South East , towards Nant Tarw circles.

There are other monuments close to this circle , but the grass has claimed them too.

Harolds Stones
Date Added: 19th Sep 2010
Site Type: Stone Row / Alignment
Country: Wales (Monmouthshire)
Visited: Yes on 22nd Feb 2010

Harolds Stones submitted by cerrig on 22nd Feb 2010. The smallest of the 3 stones, and the odd one out, being a slab type rather than a pillar. From this angle it reminds me of the stories that are sometimes told of these stones, regarding someone being turned to stone for some crime or other.
This one looks to me like a hooded figure, walking away to the right, carrying a bag slung over the left shoulder.

Pen-y-Wyrlod
Date Added: 19th Sep 2010
Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 20th Jan 2010

Pen-y-Wyrlod submitted by cerrig on 20th Jan 2010. This is the view today looking South West. It is now a very overgrown site, but originally, without the trees, it would have been possible to see the Black mountain, at the far end of the Brecon Beacons,50 miles away. A short walk to the North gets around the trees to confirm this.
