Y Pigwn cairn 2
Date Added: 19th Sep 2010
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 15th Aug 2010

Y Pigwn cairn 2 submitted by cerrig on 15th Aug 2010. Cairn 2, on the skyline here. This is looking North, from the Roman road.
Anyone trying to find the circles could do worse than follow the road to this stone, then walk to the cairn, then head East for 200 meters. You'll then be in Smiths, and they sell maps of the area.

Penmyarth
Date Added: 7th Dec 2010
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 6th Dec 2010. My rating: Condition 5 Ambience 4 Access 3

Penmyarth submitted by Johnny on 4th Jul 2002. Penmyarth Standing Stone, Powys (SO 183 199):
Marked on maps as standing stone but within the private land of the Glanusk estate.
This stunning stone is comparable in height with the nearby Llwyn-y-Fedwen stone (4.27m, cf). In shape it is said to resemble an upright fish, hence an alternative name for this site of the "Fish Stone".

Log Text: A Megalith truly worthy of the name. Reputedly the tallest stone in South Wales. It's in superb condition, and in a lovely setting too . Stood within feet of the river Usk, and surrounded by mature woodland and all sorts of wildlife, all within the grounds of the Glanusk Estate. Permission is needed to visit , and being an active working country estate it is best to get this beforehand.
Pen-y-Wyrlod
Date Added: 19th Sep 2010
Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 20th Jan 2010

Pen-y-Wyrlod submitted by cerrig on 20th Jan 2010. This is the view today looking South West. It is now a very overgrown site, but originally, without the trees, it would have been possible to see the Black mountain, at the far end of the Brecon Beacons,50 miles away. A short walk to the North gets around the trees to confirm this.
