Dupath Well
Date Added: 27th Apr 2018
Site Type: Holy Well or Sacred Spring
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Would like to visit

Dupath Well submitted by KiwiBetsy on 11th Dec 2004. As you enter the chapel through the heavy wooden door, there before you built into the floor below the windows is a pool of crystal clear water which flows out under the eastern wall into a granite trough.
The chapel was built by the monks of St Germans in 1570 but the well was revered as a pre Christian shrine and has long held the reputation for curing whooping cough.

"The site lies in a meadow about 100 yards north of the River Elwy at the foot of a steep woodland slope half a mile west of the A.525 road from Denbigh to St. Asaph and three miles from the latter. North of the bridge by which the A.525 crosses the Elwy is a narrow lane to the west, sign posted to Cefn, and some 400 yards along this lane is a fork at which the track drops almost to the river. Figsbury Rings
Date Added: 26th Aug 2015
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: England (Wiltshire)
Visited: Yes. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 4 Access 4

Figsbury Rings submitted by JimChampion on 23rd Jan 2005. January 2005. Looking at the NE section of the ramparts from within the rings. The highest portion of the rampart is visible behind the ash trees growing in the inner ditch. These are the only significant trees within the rings, which are now grazed to conserve the chalk grassland habitat. The red flag is a warning that the neighbouring MOD range is in use. From the ring you get an amazing view of the MOD's impact on the modern landscape north-east of Salisbury.

The light is natural light from the ingeniously placed holes in the modern roofing.
