On Rousay this is a two-storied stalled cairn, one of only two known. The round cairn is about 30' in diameter. The lower chamber, reached by a 19' passage, is about 12' long x 5' wide x 5' high, and is divided into 4 cells by upright slabs. The upper chamber, whose floor is the celing of the lower chamber, is reached by an 11' long passage, and is divided into 2 compartments. The cairn is built on a hill so each passage is at ground level, one on the uphill side, the other on the dow...

Temple Wood S submitted by funsize on 4th Jun 2007. This is a cracking site. Large cobble mound with slivers of upright slabs and a central cist. Very accessible and one of many impressive sites within a small area of the Kilmartin Valley. This shows the larger cairn, there is a smaller one ringed by trees a stones throw to the south west.

The Polisher (Fyfield Down) submitted by Thorgrim on 3rd Aug 2004. SU128715
The Polisher is a sarsen stone on Fyfield Down and is in close proximity to a settlement of the "Beaker Folk". Used to polish stone axes, it is not easy to find and has become something of a Holy Grail to Megaraks.
This photograph gives significant clues to its location - the triangular stone and the lone tree are pointers. There is another pointer nearby which makes finding the Polisher a certainty, but I am not going to divulge that. I searched on three separate occasions and o...
