Drizzlecombe menhir 2 submitted by dodomad on 30th Dec 2022. Jupiter glowing bright in the night sky above the magical Drizzlecombe complex in Dartmoor. Also known as the ‘Bone Stone’, it’s one of the most uniquely shaped Menhirs I’ve ever visited, appearing to transform with every step you take around it.

Site Type: Marker Stone
Country: England (Cumbria)
Visited: Would like to visit

Roman Milestone (Temple Sowerby) submitted by Anne T on 6th Apr 2018. Close up of the southern face of the milestone. If there was an inscription, it has long been scoured away by the winds and rains. Today the A66 Temple Sowerby by-pass rushes by just to the west of this milestone. To think this has sat by a routeway for around 2,000 years.
