Slabs from the middle of the Tarr Steps on Exmoor, near Withypool, washed downstream during recent flooding in Somerset.

Also known as the ‘Bone Stone’, it’s one of the most uniquely shaped Menhirs I’ve ever visited, appearing to transform with every step you take around it.

If there was an inscription, it has long been scoured away by the winds and rains. Today the A66 Temple Sowerby by-pass rushes by just to the west of this milestone. To think this has sat by a routeway for around 2,000 years.
