Caer Leb submitted by TimPrevett on 14th Apr 2004. Caer Leb is a rectilinear settlement enclosure, with double ditches and banks defining an area 200 feet by 160 feet. Some have interpreted it as a mediaeval homestead with moat (indeed, some of the ditches get very water logged). However, finds of a 3rd Century AD brooch, a 4th Century denarius of Postumus, and Roman pottery and quernstones date the site much earlier than mediaeval. Like the Din Lligwy Settlement, the CADW guidebook says it possibly has its origins earlier than the 3rd Century, ...

The new results also show that there was activity at a huge burial mound to the south of Bryn Celli Ddu, some 500 years later than the pit circle. The effort put into building this burial cairn must have been immense, as some of the stones used in its construction would have weighed over one tonne. Bryn Celli Ddu submitted by ericgrindle on 22nd Feb 2015. The Site is clearly signposted and only a short walk from the road. It is considered to be one of the finest passage tombs in Wales, The series of photographs will show the entrance, the main passage and chamber. The access to the main chamber being via a tunnel, the sides of which consist of large vertical slabs topped by substantial stone lintels.

Photo taken from a layby on the Nesscliffe A5 bypass heading southeast. The photo looks northeast.
This fort sits on top of a sandstone escarpment overlooking the Shropshire Plain. It is a D shaped fort with double-ditched inner and outer ramparts.
It's thought to be of mid-Iron Age construcrion but is known to have been in use in the 2nd and 4th Centuries AD.

Falkner's Circle submitted by Thorgrim on 11th Mar 2004. Just one stone remains standing now. Where are the others? They are broken and scattered in the adjacent hedgerows. Don't you just love farmers - custodians of the land! The circle was described by Falkner in 1840 and a plan by W. Long shows that there were 12 stones in a circle of 37m circumference. So the damage has been done since then.
The circle is sign-posted from the road alongside the West Kennet Avenue and is just a quarter of a mile along the footpath that follows the field ...

Runway Mound submitted by ESgt on 24th Jul 2011. This hilltop mound is hidden from the road by a high hedge. It is near to the Download Music Festival Camp Site, near the western runway lights of East Midlands Airport, and adjacent to a Severn-Trent water works. Nearby an Iron Age field system was excavated in preparation for Airport buildings.
It is 48m long, 17m wide, and 1 & 1/2m high at the eastern end. Is it a known long barrow?
