Spettisbury Rings submitted by JimChampion on 4th Feb 2005. January 2005. View of Spettisbury rings from across the Stour valley to the north-east. The far side of the hillfort rampart is visible on the horizon (surmounted by an OS trig point), the enclosed area is a lighter green colour, and the nearside rampart can be seen as a darker green colour in the gap between the trees.

Log Text: Visited quite a few times over the years, can still walk along the old railway track. Great views from the top, can see Badbury Rings in the distance.

Dorset Cursus submitted by JimChampion on 2nd Apr 2005. Looking NE along the course of the Dorset Cursus from Gussage Hill to Bottlebush Down. The cursus banks no longer remain in this 3 km section so their route has been sketched out in white. In the foreground is the grassy remains of Gussage Down settlement, in the centre the Bronze Age round barrows on Wyke Down. The Roman road known as Ackling Dyke cuts diagonally across the photo from the horizon on the left to the middle-right, with trees and bushes along its route. The cursus has a slight cha...

Pentridge 4 submitted by JimChampion on 10th Apr 2005. Looking NE at the lower end of the Dorset Cursus long barrow, with its covering of grass. A beech tree is growing on the NW flank of the barrow's far end, visible to the left of the bush. When it was built the barrow would have been in open downland with a covering of gleaming white chalk.
