Visited: Yes on 28th Jul 2005

Auchterarder submitted by hamish on 28th Jul 2005. This is the stones just on the outskirts of Auchterarder, easy to see but not so easy to access. The one in the middle of the island is of course the first you visit the second on the edge of the hedge you can touch, but the third is most difficult with rusty barbed wire and nettles and brambles.

Fingal's Stone
Date Added: 12th Jan 2011
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Scotland (Perth and Kinross)
Visited: Yes on 26th Jul 2005

Fingal's Stone submitted by hamish on 26th Jul 2005. Not very easy to find, where the foot path curves round behind the school there is a gate on the right. If it has been wet it becomes more difficult from here - mud and long grass - in an enclosure on the left is the stone. I didn't want to get any wetter so I took the photo from where I was standing. It looks a bit like a jig saw puzzle, three stones glued on top of each other. Very odd.

Tullybannocher submitted by hamish on 23rd Jul 2005. It's easy to miss this one, I stopped in a field gateway to look at the map glanced round and there it was in that field. It was a four poster by repute but only two remain. Nick thinks there are cupmarks on the stones but not so sure myself.

Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Scotland (Perth and Kinross)
Visited: Yes on 23rd Jul 2005

The Boat Stone submitted by hamish on 23rd Jul 2005. After you have been to Sherriffmuir Stones keep on up the road. Don't try to find Wester Briggs Circle, it's hidden in the heather. Just down the road past the woods on the left is the Boat Stone. You have to clamber over the stone wall with a barbed wire topping to get to this stone. Nearly broke my leg but survived.
