Fingal's Stone
Date Added: 12th Jan 2011
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Scotland (Perth and Kinross)
Visited: Yes on 26th Jul 2005

Fingal's Stone submitted by hamish on 26th Jul 2005. Not very easy to find, where the foot path curves round behind the school there is a gate on the right. If it has been wet it becomes more difficult from here - mud and long grass - in an enclosure on the left is the stone. I didn't want to get any wetter so I took the photo from where I was standing. It looks a bit like a jig saw puzzle, three stones glued on top of each other. Very odd.

Auchterarder
Date Added: 12th Jan 2011
Site Type: Standing Stones
Country: Scotland (Perth and Kinross)
Visited: Yes on 28th Jul 2005

Auchterarder submitted by hamish on 28th Jul 2005. This is the stones just on the outskirts of Auchterarder, easy to see but not so easy to access. The one in the middle of the island is of course the first you visit the second on the edge of the hedge you can touch, but the third is most difficult with rusty barbed wire and nettles and brambles.

Kilmichael Glassary 1 submitted by hamish on 31st Jul 2005. What a great sight this is on the edge of a housing estate. For all the modernity around it is still enthralling to be here so much to see. Try counting them.

Carse Farm I submitted by hamish on 17th Aug 2005. This is the best time to visit here, the field has just been harvested and the farmer is in a good mood. I raised a hare as I was crossing to the stones. I didn't think to look for Nick's cup marks, maybe next time.

Coity submitted by hamish on 21st Aug 2005. You come past the castle bearing round to the right, about 1klm there is a lane on the left.Find somewhere to park and walk up the lane to a gate and follow the path on the left to another gate. A few mtrs past the gate is a stone stile, go over and turn right along the hedge to the Burial Chamber.

Cae'r-hen-Eglwys
Date Added: 12th Jan 2011
Site Type: Standing Stones
Country: Wales (West Glamorgan)
Visited: Yes on 21st Aug 2005
Cae'r-hen-Eglwys submitted by hamish on 21st Aug 2005. I had a hard time looking for this, the os ref. is out. I wandered about a massive field looking in the wrong place, it should be SS875809. The access from the road is difficult with dumped rubbish and glass. Once you have trodden down the nettles and dock the stones are great.
