Redland Park

Redland Park submitted by Hamish on 9th May 2004. Redland Park Bristol. ST579749. This stone lies here unnoticed by passers daily. I for one remember it as a useful resting place on my way home after drinking sessions in my student days, and it never crossed my mind that it was a sarsen stone. There were reputedly at least two stone circles in this area but this is all that remains. There is however a large similar stone at the Canowie Road end of the park but this is iffy.

Wook's Quoit

Wook's Quoit submitted by Hamish on 10th May 2004. ST390578 Somerset Nr Banwell. When you reach the farm there is no problem parking.Ask the landowner for permission to enter. They are quite happy to give this permission.Be careful of the guardian geesethey have a hard peck. The stone is of the same type as the Stanton Drew stones. The farmers wife told me that they get a lot of dowsers there who find "interesting things" This stone is well worth the effort finding.

Brane Entrance Grave submitted by Hamish on 13th May 2004. SW401282 Nr Sancreed. After looking at Sancreed Well have a look for this lovely little Chambered Tomb. Just before the farm the road does a sharp turn right you can park here.Best to ask permission from the farmer because access is not easy.May is a good time to come ,the tomb has a nice blue hat.

Caer-Dyni submitted by hamish on 10th Nov 2004. I stopped off at Criccieth for a break after a trip round the peninsula and saw this marked on the map. What a lovely rather sad place hidden from direct view, perhaps that is why it has survived. This pic was my first sight of it.

Penarth submitted by hamish on 11th Nov 2004. This is as close as I could get, you can see the herd of young cattle on the right well they didn't take too kindly to me so I hopped back over the hedge. The farmer was happy for me to risk my life but I declined his invite. He was though very informative about the area.

Bisley Barrow submitted by hamish on 21st Nov 2004. On the road from Waterlane to Bisley you will pass on the right a clay pigeon shoot, the barrow is just up the road by a public footpath. It is very over grown and difficult to access so be careful.

Burras submitted by hamish on 23rd Nov 2004. I was standing by the gate of the farm when a tractor came along the road and turned into the gate, I opened the gate for the farmer and he then walked up to the Menhir with me. He told me it had been re-erected and set in concrete. He tentively introduced dowsing into the conversation and became quite animated ( for a Cornishman ) when I told him I was a fellow dowser.
