Redland Park

Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: England (Gloucestershire)
Visited: Yes on 9th May 2004

Redland Park submitted by Hamish on 9th May 2004. Redland Park Bristol. ST579749.
This stone lies here unnoticed by passers daily. I for one remember it as a useful resting place on my way home after drinking sessions in my student days, and it never crossed my mind that it was a sarsen stone. There were reputedly at least two stone circles in this area but this is all that remains. There is however a large similar stone at the Canowie Road end of the park but this is iffy.

Bisley Barrow submitted by hamish on 21st Nov 2004. On the road from Waterlane to Bisley you will pass on the right a clay pigeon shoot, the barrow is just up the road by a public footpath. It is very over grown and difficult to access so be careful.

West Tump submitted by hamish on 3rd Apr 2005. This is the very devil to find but here we go.Follow Buckle road to the saw mills and park there.Walk back up the road for about 100mtrs look for a mountain bike track on the right.Follow this track, cross a horsey path and follow track 'till you reach a wide horsey path.Follow this path up the hill ,when you reach the top cut to the right across the woods-no path here- you will see the Barrow through the trees.

Broad Stone (Dorset) submitted by hamish on 17th Feb 2007. There used to be an AA box in the layby near here, not so easy to find now, go too fast you miss it. Quite a Stone in Stuckley's time but now laid flat. I had to do a bit of clearing rubbish off the Stone. It is sad to see it like this.

Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: England (Dorset)
Visited: Yes on 17th Feb 2007
Kingston Russell Standing Stone submitted by hamish on 17th Feb 2007. I couldnt go into the field because it is cropped, one day it will be grass and I will be able to see it close up. The east side of the Stone has a ledge, possibly a "Shaman" chair? Looking at the map it seems to be aligned with the Broad Stone and the Nine Stone Circle.
