Burras

Burras submitted by hamish on 23rd Nov 2004. I was standing by the gate of the farm when a tractor came along the road and turned into the gate, I opened the gate for the farmer and he then walked up to the Menhir with me. He told me it had been re-erected and set in concrete. He tentively introduced dowsing into the conversation and became quite animated ( for a Cornishman ) when I told him I was a fellow dowser.

Broughdearg submitted by hamish on 15th Jul 2005. I followed Nick's advice and walked to the farm. Park by the track gate but expect some interest this is a fishing river,"poachers". The farmer is a bit amused at any interest in "auld stanes" so be prepared to be patronised.

Broad Stone (Dorset)

Broad Stone (Dorset) submitted by hamish on 17th Feb 2007. There used to be an AA box in the layby near here, not so easy to find now, go too fast you miss it. Quite a Stone in Stuckley's time but now laid flat. I had to do a bit of clearing rubbish off the Stone. It is sad to see it like this.

Blackgate of Pitscandlie

Blackgate of Pitscandlie submitted by hamish on 24th Jun 2007. After visiting Aberlemno carry on down the road towards Forfar, there is a turning on the right about three quarters of a mile after Pitscandlie House. There is just enough room to park on the edge of the lane. Walk up the lane for about 150yds and in the yard of the second house is the remains of this Circle. Two massive stones go pretty well unnoticed by the folk who live here.
