A panoramic view of the Cockpit Stone Circle which according to Magicmap ‘includes a circular kerbed stone bank 2.8m -11.2m wide and up to 0.5m high which encloses an area approximately 27m in diameter. There are 27 (?) standing and recumbent stones set largely into the internal face of this bank, thereby creating the stone circle. Bennet's Cross submitted by thecaptain on 2nd Aug 2006. This is a lovely cross, believed to have been carved from a prehistoric menhir.
It stands about 1.7 metres tall, and is just beside the B3212 road near its high point as it crosses the moor between Moretonhampstead and Postbridge.
