Herssum Steingrab submitted by RunaStera on 30th May 2005. Hunebed #867 in the County of Emsland (EL). It is deep in the forest between sandy dunes. No capstone is in position, but the size and the large stones are impressive. It is 20 m long, in the middle 2 m and at both ends 1.5 m wide. The Entrance is, like at all "Emsländische Kammer"-Graves in the south. The direction of the chamber is West/East with 284°. The oval stonecircle around the chamber is not complete. Easy to find hunebed, because the County of Emsland installed large directions signs...

The 3 remaining capstones are out of place, so the tomb looks rather destroyed, although all other stones are in situ except for one of the passage orthostats [April 2008].

It displays early finds from the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age up to items from the early 19th century.
It is situated in the south and east wing of Wewelsburg castle.

Chambered Tomb in Lower Saxony, Bremen
It was destroyed by a farmer 1971 in the near village Lehmke.
1975 the original stones were brought to the museum of Hoesseringen
and reconstructed in its original state.
The chamber had three capstones, one of them had been destroyed earlier,
in 1850. One of the remaining capstones is littered with cupmarks.

The chamber is located just east of barrows' center and visible near the center of the picture. Only the eastern end-stone and the adjacent orthostat of the northern long-side are preserved in situ. As usual the orthostats are slightly inclined towards the chamber, but due to erosion of the earthwork the eastern chamber endstones' inclination increased significantly. The capstones C2 and C3 are robbed otherwise the chamber is well preserved. Especially the western third of the chamber and the passage section are in very good condition. April 2010

it is called 1841 A.D. as the most awesome and nicest stonegrave in the Kingdom of Hannover. It has 17 yokes and is 27m long. The grave is build in the typically east-west-direction (235°) with a passage in the south. Very special is, that the oval border circle is doubly.
First excavtions were made by officers of Napoleon I. Some stones lowered but in 1824 A.D. stones brought back in their originally position.

Huesby Dolmen submitted by holger_rix on 27th Nov 2007. The Dolmen of Huesby has been excavated from a Round Barrow not far from the village.
The barrow has been used by several generations, and was surrounded by 3 rings of stones.
The capstone is not original. The original has been brought to the museum of Schloss Gottorf in Schleswig.

Hueven Steingrab 1 submitted by RunaStera on 25th Jun 2005. Hunebed #842 - Hüven Nord (Nord = north), also called "Volbers Hünensteine". Village of Hüven in the County of Emsland (EL). The inner width of the chamber is 15m x max 1.5m. The oval stonecircle is 22m long and 10m wide. A perfect example of an "Emsland Chamber Grave", missing only a few stones. The direction of the grave is about 274°.
