Historisches Museum des Hochstifts Paderborn submitted by Harald_Platta on 5th Nov 2018. The Historisches Museum des Hochstifts Paderborn is a local history museum in Büren (North Rhine-Westphalia/Germany).
It displays early finds from the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age up to items from the early 19th century.
It is situated in the south and east wing of Wewelsburg castle.

The 3 remaining capstones are out of place, so the tomb looks rather destroyed, although all other stones are in situ except for one of the passage orthostats [April 2008].

Herssum Steingrab submitted by RunaStera on 30th May 2005. Hunebed #867 in the County of Emsland (EL). It is deep in the forest between sandy dunes. No capstone is in position, but the size and the large stones are impressive. It is 20 m long, in the middle 2 m and at both ends 1.5 m wide. The Entrance is, like at all "Emsländische Kammer"-Graves in the south. The direction of the chamber is West/East with 284°. The oval stonecircle around the chamber is not complete. Easy to find hunebed, because the County of Emsland installed large directions signs...

This megalithic grave is called Gevasteine, too. Geva was the wife of Duke Widukind, a famous saxon leader who fighted bloody battles against Emperor Carl the Great (Francs) around 780 A.D. (compare with hunebed Germany #909 Karlsteine) Geva was a sister of King Harold I. of Haithabu, a Viking Kingdom, located in todays State of Schleswig-Holstein near the Danish border. Legend say...

Hekese Grab A submitted by Martin_L on 26th May 2010. Overview from the NW. Another visitor visible on the benches beside chambers' SE end. The main megaliths used for construction of this massive chamber are preserved, but it largely collapsed due to historic destruction attempts.

Heinbockel Megalithgrab submitted by Martin_L on 19th Jun 2012. View towards SW. Southwestern end of a chambered tomb situated next to a small road in the village Heinbockel near Stade. The endstone and the adjacent pair of uprights are preserved and most probably in situ. The original chamber-size is unknown.
According to Körner (in Sprockhoff, Ernst (et al.) – Atlas der Megalithgräber Deutschlands – Teil 3 Niedersachsen - Westfalen, Habelt, Bonn, 1975, p. 22) the only remaining capstone was out of place but moved back on the uprights in 1966. ...
