D30 Exloo submitted by Martin_L on 25th Jun 2010. Aerial from the East.
Chamber length 7,3m (clear 6m)
Width varies from 3m to 3,4m (clear 2m)
The chamber is deeply embedded into the sandy ground. All orthostats were (and still are) preserved in situ when van Giffen examined the site in the early 20th century. Capstones C1 (counting from the North) and C2 were robbed, C3 was fallen and C4 in situ. Obviously C3 was placed back on its orthostats and C2 probably was replaced. The lateral passage (marked "E") has preserved one pair of ortho...

A bit trashed and certainly not the most majestic of hunebedden, but a charming, idyllic rural location.

The assumed positions of two missing chamber orthostats and two passage orthostats are marked by concrete-implements. The remains of the chamber are still surrounded by significant remains of the covering barrow.
When Professor van Giffen examined the site only the orthostats of fallen capstone C3 were preserved in situ.

D43 Emmen Schimmeres submitted by Sunflowerbird on 7th Mar 2005. Emmen Schimeres is the only 'langgraf' in the Netherlands and feels very much like Wayland's Smithy. It has a complete kerb of massive stones and its chambers are just beginning to show through what is left of its barrow. A monster and a beauty just on the outskirts of Emmen (off the Odoorn Road). Signposted. Opposite the Mazda garage.

D51 Noordsleen submitted by Martin_L on 5th May 2009. The whole ensemble viewed from the North-East. The chamber is more than halfway filled with earth. The easternmost capstone is still in situ. Only the tops of its uprights are visible. Hopefully the picture shows a bit of the fine ambience of this beautiful site (April 2009)
