Visbeker Braut
Date Added: 28th Sep 2013
Site Type: Long Barrow
Country: Germany (Lower Saxony, Bremen)
Visited: Would like to visit

Visbeker Braut submitted by Martin_L on 18th Jan 2011. The SW-side narrow side. It is built of 4 enormous kerbstones, all appr. 3m high.
Like at similar sites, the kerbstones at the narrow sides are the largest.
The other short side in the NW is partly destroyed, but two large corner stones are still in place.
These larger kerbstones at the short sides of long barrows are often called “Wächter” (means: “guard” or “guardian”) in Germany.

The rear appears to have a medium size chamber, while the rest appears to be the passage leading to it. It probably once had a tumulus. Saint-Lyphard.

Dolmen du Crapaud submitted by thecaptain on 20th Jul 2006. Perched on its clifftop, overlooking the sea and a nice sandy beach, from certain angles this dolmen does indeed look like a toad poking its head up.

Site Type: Burial Chamber or Dolmen
Country: France (Bretagne:Morbihan (56))

Porz Guen dolmens submitted by thecaptain on 14th Jun 2006. Remains of two dolmens on the clifftop to the north of the Porz Guen beach on the Cote Sauvage of the Quiberon Peninsula.
The more inland is the most complete, with one capstone surviving on the entry couloir. The chamber would probably have been roofed with large corbelled capstones around it, many of which survive fallen neaby.

St Samson's Well (Landunvez) submitted by pab on 22nd Dec 2014. St Samson's Well, October 2014.
It was such a bright day that I used a hood-type attachment on the camera, which I am not used to (not getting much practice with it in west Wales!). Hence the odd 'border effect' - but I rather liked it so I haven't tried to tidy it up....
The location was delightful, easy to visit as it was right alongside the coastal road.
