Burras submitted by TimPrevett on 1st Nov 2002. Burras Menhir at Lezerea Farm SW680344 This spectacularly huge stone (9.8ft) has just one detracting feature - it was set in a concrete base in 1971! Permission is required to visit, and it was cheerfully given me. On return of the photos, I couldn't help notice the little face near the bottom of the stone.

St Guron's Well House submitted by KiwiBetsy on 4th Oct 2006. St Guron’s Well lies a short distance from the wellhouse at the foot of the steps that lead up to St Petroc’s Church. The water runs from the mouths of two gargoyles and falls into a trough. The date 1545 is carved into the stonework.

Pass the Caravan Park on the left and pull into the gateway of Trelil Farm cottage and farm sheds on your right. With the farm buidings on your right, to your left is a field that slopes down to a steam. Head down to the stream and away from the road to the north eastern corner of the field. As you enter the chapel through the heavy wooden door, there before you built into the floor below the windows is a pool of crystal clear water which flows out under the eastern wall into a granite trough. The chapel was built by the monks of St Germans in 1570 but the well was revered as a pre Christian shrine and has long held the reputation for curing whooping cough.

St Samson's Well (Golant) submitted by KiwiBetsy on 3rd Oct 2006. The well is in a beautiful setting looking out over the River Fowey. St Samson was a Welsh missionary who travelled widely. It is said he slew a serpent and occupied it’s cave while setting up a monastery. St Samson was over 100 years old when he died in Brittany about 565AD.
