Log Text: It is possible to park on the verge of the B7005 at NX 30371 50960. Walk W to the gateway. Brae Farm NE is c. 150 yards W on the margin of the field.

Log Text: Windy Edge Long Cairn is tough place to reach through forest rides and rough moorland. However this spectacular cairn is worth all the effort. The isolated location gives the site an increased gravitas.

Log Text: It is a pleasant change to find a standing stone conveniently located on the roadside close to a lay-by. Look out for a recumbent stone on the opposite side of the road.

Log Text: Mains of Larg NW Cairn is accessed from a lay-by c. 50 yards N of New Luce Viaduct. A short trip across fields, rough pasture and marsh leads to a group of three cairns. Wellies are required for all but dry Summer visits.

Log Text: I decided to revisit Knock 5 rock art when I was in the area for another site. The track up to Knock farm is passable with care. I found the carving after 10 minutes. There are several other natural cavities on the same panel to complicate the search.

Take the small road from the A747, 1km ESE of Monreith, to Golfcourse 'The Lag'. On the right side, just after the cattlegrid, there is a rocky hillock with an Otter statue on top. The motifs are just below the statue on a small ledge. There is public access.

Log Text: I walked past this stone twice before I spotted the stone in long grass on the margin of the field. Luckily I had a bottle of water to bring out the depth of the ring mark.

Log Text: Glenquicken Stone is located on Glenquicken Moor north of Garrochar Tree Farm. The stone is hard to find in summer due to a sea of ferns. I walked c. 50 yards SSW from the rocky knoll at NX 51610 58608 to find the hidden stone.
