Log Text: The ambiance of this small ancient site does not seem to be spoiled by the fact it is right by the side of the road. There are many stones here as well as the main three manhirs. Not easy for a wheelchair visit other than a drive by.

Log Text: Another ancient place. Well worth a visit. Difficult to determine where one tomb ends and the next begins and a view of the whole site is just not possible.

La Maison des Feins

La Maison des Feins submitted by thecaptain on 16th Apr 2008. La Maison des Feins is about 12 metres long, but it is not much more than a metre wide or high. Truly a house for the fairies. My Dad adds scale to the fairies house, viewed here from the southeastern end.

Log Text: Another magical site. Wonderful location in a wood. Must be one of the longest and most complete allee couvert we have visited in France. So many of the capstones are in place. In a way it is good that the tumulus is gone so we can appreciate the construction.

Log Text: This Dolmen is vast. Why it is possible to drive up and walk round it without paying anything is a mystery in these mercenary times. When you first walk through the trees and see it, it is quite breathtaking. It is such an enormous construction.

Log Text: I would have rated this higher but the next day we stopped at two of the biggest dolmen I have ever seen so this is just a small cottage compared to the mansions we saw on the following day

Log Text: Great place. Windy hill. Vast capstone. Maybe it was once supported on other of the surrounding stones or maybe this is the way it was constructed with the angled stone. Very impressive.

Log Text: A nice little dolmen in the middle of vines marked by a single tree. It is not visible until you are right on top of it so coordinates 44.689378, 0.395161 are more useful than the ones currently given for the site

Log Text: Finding this allee couverte was not very easy. Our sat nav stopped us by a field telling us that the tomb was due South of our position. We crossed to the far edge of the field where the ground rose steeply through a wood. I climbed with some difficulty through the wood as there were no discernable paths and then saw the tumulus which contains the allee couvert above me. It is a wonderful place. very atmospheric. After taking photographs I followed a slight path along the ridge and found that the site could be approached from the East via a farm track and a path through the wood. I guess that permission should be sought if this is the desired approach as there are many properte privee notices as one leaves the farm track. They are probably there only to deter Cep hunters.
