Site Type: Portal Tomb
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 28th Nov 2006

Mulfra Quoit submitted by paulcall on 28th Nov 2006. A more distant view of the quoit situated right on the top of the hill. The climb up to see it after heavy rain was 'unpleasant'.

Giew Mine
Date Added: 14th Mar 2011
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 28th Nov 2006

Giew Mine submitted by paulcall on 28th Nov 2006. There is some doubt about whether this menhir is a true bronze age standing stone, not helped by the fact that there is a one inch diameter hole drilled into the western face (seen here), but perhaps the local mineworkers used the already erected stone for their own purposes.

Tremenhere Menhir submitted by paulcall on 13th Dec 2006. Visited on a very dull day. Access 5, Ambience zero. Obviously used by the cattle as a rubbing post as the mud around it indicates.

Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 7th Jan 2007

West Lanyon Quoit submitted by paulcall on 7th Jan 2007. This is in such a delapidated state that I felt it was hardly worth the effort to visit. It is hardly recognisable as a tomb at all.

Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 6th Sep 2008

Porthmeor Circle submitted by paulcall on 6th Sep 2008. Taken in late July when the bracken seems to grow mainly within the boundary of the circle of stones. There are a lot of scattered stones downhill and I found that circle itself was pretty difficult to identify.

Larkbarrow Corner Standing Stone submitted by paulcall on 23rd Apr 2007. A rather mean-spirited farmer shouted 'Oy' at me, and would not let me get anywhere near this stone. This is as close as I got !

Visited: Yes on 8th Feb 2007

Grey Mare and her Colts submitted by paulcall on 8th Feb 2007. Faux Infra Red Photo. My first vist to this site. It reminded me of a smaller and more delapidated version of West Kennett, but was much more impressive than I expected.

Kingston Russell Circle submitted by paulcall on 12th Feb 2007. A panorama of 4 photos taken from the south in February 2007. The ditch around the circle can be clearly seen, and presumably is the result of recent farming.

Nine Stones (Dorset)
Date Added: 14th Mar 2011
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Dorset)
Visited: Yes on 12th Feb 2007

Nine Stones (Dorset) submitted by paulcall on 12th Feb 2007. Photographing the whole of this circle probably needs a fish-eye lens. This is a panorama from 3 photos taken from the north. Although perhaps emphasised by the perspective there is a large gap between the huge stone on the left and the small stone on the right. Were there once other, missing, stones in this arc of the circle?

Tinklers Hill, St Martins submitted by paulcall on 17th Oct 2006. One of the cairns on the hill. It is about 4.5 metres in diameter with a central cist, and the remains of a surrounding wall. I could not find any others on the hill, as it is covered in a lot of gorse and scrub.
